Bob Campbell, GM3 1958-59 Final Voyage - May 29, 2015
It saddens me deeply to report
the Final Voyage of our shipmate Bob Campbell who was truly instrumental
in getting our Perry Association underway. As faith often plays
a roll in our lives, its almost unbelievable
that two best friends aboard the Perry should become the first
shipmates to discover the Perry website within days of each other.
This coincidence in 1998 led to Bob inviting Leif and myself
to his home to reminisces the good old days aboard the Perry.
This special friendship between two old friends that was rekindled
after 37 years was almost as exciting for me as for them.
Bob truly loved the Navy and
especially our DD-844 as is easily confirmed by his email address
Perrydd844@aol.com.
Bob may be gone, but he will never
be forgotten as he will be remembered at our next Reunion Memorial
Service and entered into our Ships Memorial Roster with his fellow
shipmates that have also taken their Final Voyage.
We will truly miss your wonderful
smile and humor and may you find old friends waiting to greet
you and always enjoy fair wind and following seas forevermore.
Smooth sailing mate.
With deepest sympathy
to all the Campbell's from your extended Perry family
