Final Voyage

To all hands having had the privilege to know Don Turner, RD3, 60-67
September 14, 1937 - March 13, 2015

With regrets, one of Perry's finest, Don Turner has taken his Final Voyage on March 13th, 2015. I'm proud to say, Don ranks high among our many gallant Perry shipmates. Don is well know for his unparallel distinction of having served aboard the Perry for 7 years. The many shipmates with whom he served all remember him as a 4.0 Shipmate and exemplary leader who was instrumental in guiding and molding many shipmates into the fine men they are today.

Don stood up to every challenge and only saw an opportunity in the middle of every difficulty. Even a 3,000 + mile voyage to our many East Coast reunions never stopped him from joining us and sharing his wonderful sea stories. It's easy to see how Don achieved celebrity status at our reunions. I know Don will remain with us in spirit at our future reunions. He will also be remembered at our next Memorial Service when we pay tribute to all our shipmates who have taken their final voyage since our last gathering.

Don may be gone, but will never be forgotten. To our friend and fellow shipmate, 'may the seas be calm and the wind at your back on your final voyage', smooth sailing.

On behalf the Perry Association, we wish his wife Doris and all the Turner clan our sincere condolences.

Condolences can be mailed to his wife Doris. 858-484-0418
