Final Voyage

To all hands having had the privilege to have known Ken Chapman

With regrets, one of Perry's finest, Ken Chapman has taken his Final Voyage on the 25th of April, 2005 after complications brought on by a massive stroke suffered on Veterans Day of 2004.

As our Perry’s XO in 1959 – 1961 and our 1st Reunion Chairman, Ken was very proud of his service aboard the USS Perry DD-844 and his involvement with our Reunion Association. It seems like yesterday when he told me he would be his pleased to organize and plan our 1st Reunion. And he did just that. He planned it all, mustered several Perry Skippers and gave us an event we will remember for a long time to come. It’s easy to understand why the Navy gave Ken command of The Sullivans DD-537.

We will all be missing his charm, warm mannerisms and most of all his strong hand shake. Ken may be 'gone but not forgotten'. He will be remembered at our next reunion when we pay tribute to our shipmates that have taken their Final Voyage since our last gathering. Ken will be logged into our Perry memorial ships register of 'gone but not forgotten' shipmates.
