FINAL VOYAGE

ROGER PIPER, MM2 58-61

I am most saddened to report the final voyage of Roger Piper on Sunday, June 10th, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family after a long battle with cancer. Roger was a wonderful friend to many as is attested to by his long time friend and Perry shipmate Ray Richter whom he met aboard the Perry in 1961 and continued their friendship throughout their lives. I can well remember Roger and his wife Mittie at the many reunions they attended starting with our 1st in Virginia Beach and his last in Pensacola. You can bet Roger will again be with us in spirit at our New Orleans reunion during the roll call of all our shipmates that have 'sailed on' since our last reunion. His name is now entered into our Perry's ship's roster of shipmates 'gone but never to be forgotten'.

Knowing one day that voyage will be ours and also of our loved ones, the pain is never lessened when that time comes. Hopefully, the reflection of the fond memories shared throughout the years will help his family get through this most difficult time.
Our deepest sympathy is extended to the Piper family.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Saturday from 9:00 - 11:00 AM at the BRADLEY & STOW FUNERAL HOME, 127 Medford-Mt.
